The release is near!

Margareta Selander’s famous book “Veras Krypin and nineteen other puppet theatre plays” will be released on Wednesday November 7 at the opening of the international puppet theatre festival Dockor i Norr. The book is unique in the history of Swedish literature. It is the first time ever that puppet theatre drama is published as a book in Swedish. The head of the departement of culture in Umeå cuts the festival band!

The new head of the departement of culture in Umeå, Fredrik Lindegren will be present at the inauguration of Dockor i Norr. Fredrik Lindegren, born in 1968 in Skellefteå, is well-known in the theatre circles of Umeå. He has lived in Umeå for 16 years and he has among other things been an actor and a director at the Profile Theatre.

Solja Krapu will open the festival with a speech

The well-known poet and writer Solja Krapu will open the festival with a speech especially written for the occasion.

Solja was born in Fnland but is now living in Umeå. She won the Swedish Championship in Poetry Slam in 1997 and 1998. Her quirky and subtly humorous picture book for children, “Jag behöver lillbrorsan” won her the “Slangbellan” award for most promising author of children’s books in 2002.

Hannele Scherling will join the festival Dockor i Norr

Hannele is working at the Culture School in Kalix. She will hold a workshop for children: “How to make simple puppets out of foam rubber”.

Age: 9 years and up.
